DATA E offers on a regular basis, the Car Population Characterization Study, which the main objective is the characterization of the passenger and light commercial car population circulating in mainland Portugal.
Some keypoints about DATA E Methodology's:
The data analyzed will be all the records of the registry office of vehicle registration on 31 December of the year ZZZZ.
Records are not considered without information or invalid information in the fields (less than 1% of all records).
- Post code;
- Car manufacturing year;
For the passenger car population are considered all the vehicles with the category "lights" and with the types "passengers", "mixed", "all-terrain" and "special for taxis".
For the light commercial car population are considered all the vehicles with the category "lights" and with the types that are not included in the passenger car population.
The cars with less than six years registered in postcodes headquarters of AOV (Operational Lease) and renting companies were redistributed throughout the country through an algorithm that redistributes these automobiles for all post codes, in proportion with the presence of each brand.
This redistribution is needed to ensure that the areas where the headquarters of AOV and renting companies are not inflated compared to the rest of the country.
Estimates of the age of car population were made based on the year of registration for cars registered in the year following their manufacture, for the remaining cases was considered the year of manufacture of the car.
Examples of Results:
- Age of the car population (passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles) distributed not only by District, but also by Municipality and car brand;
- Car population displacement value (passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles) distributed by District and car brand;
- Car population holder type (passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles) distributed by District and by fuel type or another suitable variable for this purpose.
